It tells how a spaceship from a different time goes through a break in the fabric of space and ends up around a world where magic works. The members of the spaceship try to survive in the mountains and with their new found powers, set up a new society called Westwind, where women rule. Women on this planet have no rights. The magic is called order (good) or choas (bad). But neither is all one or the other as they find out.
