Finding You Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Finding You

The story is about Arthur, a young architect, who fell in love with the wrong person. Arthur discovered Lauren hiding in his closet. She convinced him that she was the living spirit of a coma patient stuck in a hospital bed in a San Francisco hospital. Arthur had a real relationship with Lauren's spirit until she recovered from her coma and the spirit disappeared. Due to the fact that her spirit vanished, Arthur thought that she was dead and he moved to Paris.

On the other hand, Lauren had a full recovery from her coma and she got back to her old life. She got together with her former boyfriend and she started working at the hospital. She had no memory of her relationship with Arthur and her mother kept her mouth shut about the whole story. She didn't tell Lauren about the stranger that visited her and stood wake at her bedside for weeks because she was afraid that the whole thing would upset her daughter.

Arthur returns to San Francisco and he rents an apartment in the city. He befriends his old neighbor and he offers to buy the old woman a new collar for her dog but he gets hit by a motorcycle and ends up in the emergency room. He meets Lauren but she treats him like any other patient because she doesn't remember his face. She discharges him and he goes home. Arthur has a stroke and he ends up in another hospital. His friend, Paul, calls Lauren and she steals an ambulance and takes Arthur's body to her hospital for an emergency surgery. Lauren gets arrested and her attending sends her away for two weeks because of what she did.
After a while, Lauren and Arthur go for a long walk and they talk about different subjects. They end up in Lauren's apartment and Arthur kisses Lauren and than he tells her that he has to go. Lauren receives a phone call from the hospital and she finds out that Arthur had another emergency surgery that day. At first she is confused because she thought that Arthur was with her all day but than she understands that it was only his spirit. She struggles with the idea but she accepts that she had a real relationship with Arthur and that he is her soul mate.
Best part of story, including ending: I liked the fact that fate gave Arthur and Lauren another chance.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was the one where Arthur kissed Lauren.

Opinion about the main character: I liked the fact that Lauren accepted the idea that she had a real relationship with Arthur.
