Diane Leslie in this sequence to "Fleur de Leigh's Life of Crime" has her teenage heroine "exiled" to a low cost boarding school. Fleur and a teenage friend, Daisy Belmont, are transferred to Rancho Cambridge West. The parents are in the hollywood entertainment industry and prefer their daughters away. Fleur arrives first and is mistaken for Daisy, the daughter of a famous movie actress. Fleur becomes the victim of pranks meant for Daisy. Fleur and Daisy get to know the other students, some of whom play major roles in the novel.

Fleur and the girls get into situations that Leslie treats with humor, but the situations involve deep issues. Diane Leslie has a talent for seeing the better side of life. She has Fleur and Daisy grow up through experiencing many humorous antics in the school.
