Flush Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Flush

Noah seeks out to find out and further prove that his dad is indeed innocent of the crime he committed. It's summer in the Florida Keys and you would expect it to be any normal day. However it is not for Noah Underwood, a young eco-friendly activist living near the waters. It's Father's Day and Noah's dad is in jail for sinking the Coral Queen casino boat run by the mischievous Dusty Muleman. He suspected the boat had been dumping raw sewage into the ocean around the Keys and it sparked a furious emotion in Noah's dad that sparked a reaction. Noah's dad ended up sinking the boat in an attempt to wake the public's attention. However this did not work out so well as he was arrested and sent to the slammer for his actions. Now Noah and with the assistance of his sister Abbey must figure out a way to bust Dusty Muleman and prove that their dad was right about the Coral Queen. Eventually Noah sneaks onto the Coral Queen and discovers rusting and a useless holding tank, which is the first actual evidence of spilled sewage. From then on Noah and Abbey come up with a devious plan to help show proof of the waste that is being dumped. They decide to flush 34 bottles of fuchsia colored food dye down the Coral Queen's toilet, which leads fuchsia trail in the ocean water. Proving that the Coral Queen is indeed in fact flushing it's waste right into the ocean. The Coast Gaurd is called to investigate and in time the scene is captured on video. The case against the Coral Queen is finally proven and the boat is forced to shut down with the help of the sibling duo of Noah and Abbey. Noah's dad eventually got out of jail for his incident as well!

Best part of story, including ending: I really liked this story because it related to the environment. I wasn't big on it before, but once I hit college I began to become more active in my approach with it and I really think this book spoke volumes with me.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was when abby and noah dumped the fuchsia water down the toilet. I knew that idea would put the casino boat out of business and I got excited on what would be next in the chapters to come.

Opinion about the main character: I like that Noah was passionate. I knew it would be hard for me to sneak on a boat to prove my fathers name, and It was cool to read through and see him break barriers to defend his own.
