This sequel to the classic _Forever War_ finds William Mandella and the rest of the veterans of the Forever War living in isolation on the planet Middle Finger under the benign dictatorship of the human hive-mind Man. Tired of being little more than genetic backup Mandella and others scheme to hijack the last starship and take it out for a spin.
