Alyssa Chandler loves to gamble not because she is addicted to it, but because she can win whenever she wants too. She isn't the only person with this talent at winning cards, while she is in Las Vegas; she meets Jordan Kyle a professional gambler. At first Kyle worries Alyssa she isn't sure whether or not he works for the casino that she is gambling in, she follows her first instinct to leave, but Kyle is able to convince her to stay the weekend with him.

After the weekend Alyssa is forced to return to the ‘real world' where her career awaits, a career that would frown upon her gambling. Alyssa tries to keep her real world separate from her fantasy world the one in which she gambles, but when Jordan shows up at her house in California trouble isn't far behind.
Jordan appears to be a very possessive lover. In the matter of a weekend he yells at one of Alyssa's friends, pretends to be a mathematician, plays bridge with her boss, and almost gets engaged. Alyssa also gets in to some trouble since Jordan's arrive at her house, her coworker discovers her secret fantasy life, she is accused of having an affair, and she decides to quit her job.
