Jerry and Rachel are brother and sister they have a mom Mrs. Pye who is the youngest mother in Cranberry and a dad Mr. Pye who is a great bird man. They all ready have a cat but they want another pet a dog. Jerry and Rachel ask their mom if they can get a dog and that there is one over by the barn that they can get for only one dollar she says it would be ok, but Jerry and Rachel have to make the dollar by themselves .and they have to get that dollar to the barn in two days by 6 o'clock or the dog would be sold to another person.

Rachel and Jerry try so hard to think of an idea but just can't do it. Then on the day that they needed the money Sam Doody comes along and asks if they would like to earn a dollar. And not wasting one second they say yes. Once they earned there dollar they ran all the way over to the barn and got their dog but on their way home they were not the only ones there they turned around but the only thing they saw was a yellow hat so they ran all the way home. Two days pasted and they were so caught up with having their own puppy they had forgotten to name it so they thought very hard and Mrs. Pye came up with a name an since no one had a better name they named him Ginger.
Ginger was the smartest dog in the neighborhood Jerry always thought to himself. And true enough Ginger proved that, one day Jerry had left for school and ginger got lonely so even just a pup went and tracked Jerry going down streets and up fire escapes till finally he reached Jerry's classroom and all of Jerry's classmates were so surprised and excited. But Wally was not that excited and when the teacher started talking again it was not his text book he was looking at it was Ginger.
Then on thanksgiving they put ginger in the backyard while they were eating and when they went back he wasn't there ginger was stolen.

Ginger Pye is a story about a puppy who is very smart who is named Ginger Pye. One day, Ginger is puppy-napped by a bully named Bullwinkle whose father runs a circus. The puppy's owners, Jerry and Rachel (brother and sister), look for the puppy but fail to find her. They finally give up when they see a grown dog running towards them. It's Ginger Pye! After two long years, she came back. They notify the police and the police go after the puppy's kidnapper.
