Heart Thief Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Heart Thief

On a planet where almost everyone has some degree of psychic ability, Ruis Elder is unusual. He's a Null, forced to keep apart from others because he neutralizes the spells and psychic abilities of anyone near him. He spends his time stealing jewels to power the Earth artifacts he fixes and running from the authorities, but he gets caught. He is sentenced to banishment, but, before his trial, he meets Ailim, a beautiful and kind judge. In spite of the danger, the two continue to meet, and, as Ailim struggles to keep her family from ruin, she works to find a way to allow Ruis back into society. This book is even better than the first, HeartMate, and includes a few new and fun Fams (Familiars), as well as a few science fiction elements (a space ship, for instance).

Ruis has been hunted by his Uncle Baucus T'Elder. Ruis was the Heir to the House of Elder, but after the death of his father and mother, it is discovered he is a Null. Baucus uses this to rob Ruis of his birthright.

Ailim D' SilverFir is a Judge of Celta. She assumed the head of her house upon her mother's death. She is a Telempath, who uses her ability to read others thoughts to judge those brought before her. She is surprised the man waiting sentencing, Ruis Elder, brings her peace. She recognizes he is a Null, but instead of being fearful or repulsed, she finds his Nullness, brings her tranquility.
