To succeed in this Doc needs to recruit some men and the only ones he can get are ex-Confederate soldiers all of whom have taken refuge south of the border.
The business is doing well until the Mexican mayor takes on a contract to deliver a shipment of what turns out to be guns. The wagon train is halted by a combined force of Mexicans and Apaches and is forced to seek refuge at the Liberty ranch, now owned by Doc and his men.
In the ensuing battle, the Americans are heavily outnumbered but due to the ingenuity of Donahue, an Irish ex-Confederate, both the ranch and the guns are saved.
