High Noon In Lincoln: Violence on the Western Frontier Book Review Summary

Detailed Plot Synopsis of High Noon In Lincoln: Violence on the Western Frontier

This is the history of the Lincoln County (NM) War. The author's main point in the introduction is that it was "a war without heroes". Judging by the stupidity of the whole incident (the event, not the writing), it's clear to see there were no heroes and no real winners. It was a war over greed and power and it didn't get nipped in the bud because Lincoln was a small town then, attracted criminal types because law and order was inefficient or partisan, and the army at Fort Stanton was headed by an inept commander who wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't been a drunkard. The book also has a little bit of Billy the Kid's history, for Billy the Kid buffs.
