Using his background as an NPR reporter and lifelong sports fan from Chicago, Simon recalls how the 3 major Chicago sports franchises -- the Cubs, the Bulls and the Bears -- have shaped the personality of the city and its citizens -- as well as being major touchstones along the way in his personal life and relationships with family and friends. After reading this wonderful, engaging book, my only regret is that I wasn't at the nail-biting games that Simon so eloquently describes. But then I don't have to, because he makes you feel as though you are right there with him, a wonderful quality for a writer.
