In a Land of Plenty Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of In a Land of Plenty

The novel is based on the Freeman family and follows their history from the marriage of Charles and Mary and the lives of their children. The novel starts with their son James in a coma and as a result you know already that the end of the novel won't be happy. The novel gradually explains why/how James is in a coma. The novel is a social commentary of life in small town Britain but is a little long-winded and not necessarily all relevant. The characterisation was poor although you do come to care for James, Laura and Adamina.
