In Washington State, single mom Allison Jennings has worked at the same Tasty Freeze for over a decade as she raises her preadolescent son Ethan. Though her ex-husband Rusty is a nice fellow, money is tight. Allison also fantasizes about the tabloid TALK OF THE TOWN jilted “Sexy Dexy” Needham III.

While Ethan goes to MIT on a science project for two weeks, Allison's wealthy pal Bunny takes her to a party at the Needham estate. Allison and Dex meet with neither able to take their hands off the other. However, in daylight she sees the birthmark on his butt and knows he was that one night fling over a decade ago. His mom wants this “gold digger” out of her son's life so she offers a bribe, but when Allison sees a picture of a preadolescent Dex she realizes he, not Rusty, sired her child. Dex wants to be a part of Ethan's and he also knows he loves Allison. Although there is RISKY BUSINESS to her heart and she mistrusts the Needhams, Allison knows she must allow Dex time with Ethan. Dex has his work cut out because he wants both Jennings permanently in his life.

Contemporary romance fans will appreciate this fine tale with a paternity twist. The story line is fun to follow because the key support players (Bunny and Momma Needham) are so aggressive that one expects a submission-wrestling match to break out at any moment. The lead couple is a fine pairing as Allison furbishes Dex a reason to leave his research lab and their precocious prodigy provides his second. Readers will be IN THE MOOD for more off beat tales from Suzanne Macpherson after reading this fine novel.
