Marcus, who is a very business minded man, is irritated and facinated with Honoria at the same time, especially when he hears the outrageous amount of money she demands for the payment of the ring. As the two negotiate, sparks fly, and the two are drawn to each other by lust and some other undefinable force.
In the passion of a moment, Honoria proposes a wager to settle their disagreement, and when she wins, she is ecstastic, only to learn later that her sisters cheated for her. Guiltily, she informs Marcus of the deception and her agrees to set another wager of his own terms, horses, which Honoria absolutely fears. As they set out to start their wager, they are thrown into a compromising position, forcing them to marry. The pair love each other, although she realizes it and he does not, causing a rift in their marriage. The two must battle through their insecurities to find their path to love.
