She succeeds but only to find that Gideon refuses her advances and that as a result he realizes that he loves Judith. Judith realizing that she loves Gideon but is afraid she will fail him as she believes she failed her first husband. It takes his 3 friends, his busybody aunt and her much disliked sister in law to bring the 2 of them together.
