Bellamy Price, the writer of Low Pressure was in the news because of her book. It was supposed to be fictional but a journalist from EyeSpy, Rocky Van Durbin had made it his life's mission to know everything about Bellamy. He released the news that the book was based on Bellamy's real life.
Bellamy thought that writing this book would be therapeutic but someone was happy and had send the dead rat to scare her.
Denton Carter is woken from his drunken stupor by Gall Hathway to fly a patient to Houston. When he sees his passengers he is shocked to see the Lystons, Howard, the patient, Olivia, his wife and Bellamy, his daughter.
Dent is initially reluctant but he needs the money more so he takes them to Houston Hospital.
During the flight Bellamy asks Dent has he read her book, when he answers in the negative she gives him a copy of Low Pressure and asks him to read it. After reading the first few chapters Dent was angry as hell.
The Lystons were the richest family in Georgetown, Howard was the owner of Lyston's Electronic Company. They hosted Memorial Day party every year for their employees.
Eighteen Years ago during the Memorial Day party a tornado passed through the town and there were major destruction. But the most destroyed was the Lyston's family, Susan Lyston, the sixteen year old eldest daughter of Howard Lyston was found dead behind in the woods near the park. Everyone thought that she had died because of the tornado but later it was confirmed that she was murdered. She had been strangled by something lacey. She was found dead under a tree, without any panties. It was speculated that the killer had killed her with her own panties.
The main suspect was Denton Carter, Susan's boyfriend. Earlier in the day Susan and Denton had a fight and Dale Moody the detective on the case thought that Dent may have killed Susan. But Dent said that he wasn't even present at the party, he was the hangar with Gall.
Susan was last seen dancing with Allen Strickland. There was not enough evidence again Allen but the ADA Rupert Collier has done his best and Allen went to prison.
Susan wasn't a very likable person, she was disrespectful towards her parents. She was always insulting her sister and was tormenting her step brother knowing that he was homosexual.
Bellamy was near the sight of Susan's murder but no matter how much she wanted to remember what had remember she had no memory of a few minutes of that day. So Bellamy had thought may be writing about it would make her remember. But it had all gone wrong, everyone involved in the case were angry Bellamy.
Ray Strickland, Allen Strickland brother was mad at Bellamy for reminding everyone about Allen and the fact that he jailed for a crime he didn't commit. Allen's DNA was found on Susan but before the storm Allen and Ray were together. Allen was then killed in Huntsville. He was bent on making Bellamy's life hell. He was one who had sent the rat to Bellamy's house in New York and he had also broken in to her place in Georgetown. He was following her and looking for an opportunity to kill her.
One night Bellamy spent the night at Dent's place because of Roy's threat. Bellamy remembers that Dent did came to the party before the tornado and they even had a fight ,which Bellamy had seen, but Dent left Susan afterwards. Dent tell about it to the police because he had no alibi.
Dent thinks that Jerry, Bellamy's fan could be the one trying to harm her since he had seen him a lot of time following her.
After talking to her father about Susan's death Bellamy becomes upset and there is a storm in Houston so Dent and Bellamy spend the night at a hotel where they make love.
Howard Lyston days a few days later and during his funeral Dent again spots Jerry in the crowd. Steven reveals that he has sent Jerry to follow Bellamy in case she was in danger.
Dent gets a call from Gall for a meeting.
After Steven leaves angrily and there is a storm, Bellamy goes to the study where she sees pictures of Olivia before and after the tornado and she remembers that Olivia had killed Susan. When she goes to ask Olivia she finds her with her wrists bleeding. Olivia tells Bellamy that she killed Susan because she was tormenting Steven.
Just when Bellamy is coming downstairs the lights go out and Dent's Corvette comes through the gate Bellamy thinks it's Dent but Roy is there outside the door. He tries to kill Bellamy. Dent comes and saves Bellamy.
Bellamy sees Van Durbin outside her house and tells him about Rupert Collier's manipulations.
Best part of story, including ending: I like the story because of the difficulty to find the killer of Susan.

Best scene in story: The scene where Bellamy finally remembers that Olivia had killed Susan and when she Olivia tells Bellamy why she killed Susan

Opinion about the main character: I like Denton because he had lost everything due to Lystons but he helped Bellamy to protect her and he was always good to Bellamy when he was younger.
