|Plot Summary of Major Operation|
A series of connected short stories in chronological order follow the human Dr. Conway through the gigantic multi-species hospital, Sector General, where he must solve a series of medical mysteries. With the aid of the fragile insectile empath Prilicla and other friends both human and alien, he must prove one friend innocent of negligence, make first contact with an intelligent aquatic race, and perform surgery on an alien the size of a subcontinent.
