This is a frequently banned erotic book.
Written in the form of a memoir, this is an explicit fictional account of the life of an English prostitute in the 18th century. As a teenager, Fanny is saved from a whoremonger by a young man of the upper class. He falls in love with her and makes her his mistress. When he disappears, after a short period of bliss, she is forced to take up a life of prostitution and soon comes to enjoy it. She has all kinds of adventures, working in brothels and being a kept woman, and finally inherits enough money to retire.
