Amelia and her adoptive brother Merpin starts off their weekly search for Leo at one of many London's gentlemen's clubs. She and Merpin stumbles upon Cam Rohan, a manager at London's gentleman's club, who decides to do a favor for the distraught Amelia and look for Leo on her behalf. Cam, a half gypsy, has an unexplained attraction towards the plain looking Amelia. He successfully locates Leo and toss him out to Amelia. Amelia thanks Cam professionally and take Leo back to their London home. Leo complains about the ride back home but Amelia and Merpin berates him that the next day they are moving to their new home in the country, the Ramsey House, and Leo complains that there is no suitable gentlemen's club out in the country and Amelia replies that is the prices reason why they are moving there.

The Hathaway arrives to the dusty and warn down Ramsey House. As Leo is nursing his hangover, Amelia and her sisters start to explore the house to see what cleaning needs to be done. Amelia stumbles into a room that is full of bees and she shrieks. Amelia has a traumatic memory with bees and after her sisters calm her down and Merpin sealing the room, they decided it was best to rest. Later in the day, they received a dinner invitation from their neighbor, Lord and Lady Westcliff.

While at dinner Amelia meets Cam once again. Cam informs them that he is a dear friend of Lord Westcliff and was invited to stay for a week with the family. Amelia starts to realize she has attraction towards Cam throughout the evening but hold it at bay because Amelia wants to respect Cam's dream of finding his own gypsy tribe. However, Amelia was surprised with another guest, her old boyfriend Christopher Frost came to dinner. Christopher Frost and Amelia were about to be engaged but broke it off years ago. Amelia distraught at the time but slowly mended her heart.
As the dinner with the Westcliff's became more awkward when Leo, who is drunk, declares he will run down the Ramsey manor and not care for the tenants. Which made Lord Westcliff mad. However, the dinner was saved when one of many Beatrix's pets came scrambling into the dining room followed by Merpin trying to catch it. Lady Westcliff informs that the Hathaway's are unusual but caring family and would like to get to know them better. After catching the pet, Leo is taken away by Merpin to stop drinking. When the sister's go home and go to sleep Amelia hears a noise. Slowly stranger things are happening at the Ramsey House that cannot be explained. Amelia asks for Cam's advice. Cam reassures her that there may not be a ghost but her brother is still being hunted by the death of his love who died during the scarlet fever outbreak. Amelia starts to believe in Cam and slowly her heart starts to open up again.

There was a fire at the bee's room. So the Hathaway family took temporary residence at the Westcliff's household. During this time Amelia and Cam finally confessed their love for one another and Cam states that he did find his tribe, it is Amelia and her family is his tribe. After their night of passion, they find at the Westcliff's household that Leo disappeared. So Amelia, Merpin, and Cam goes find Leo and successfully bring him back but all stop by the Ramsey's house to pick up more things for Leo. When all four enter they hear a strange noise and decide to split up, Amelia with Cam and Merpin with Leo. As Amelia and Cam hears the noise coming from the bee room. They slowly open the door and see Christopher taking things down desperately looking for something. They confront Christopher who pulls out his gun at them. He says that the reason why he got close to Amelia again was because the Ramsey estate. The Ramsey estate has valuable letters hidden and he figured it was located at the room with the bees. Cam and Christopher has their standoff but all of a sudden Merpin and Leo arrives to knock Christopher out. They succeeded. Amelia asks about the letters and it turns out it was a love letters between King James with Lord Ramsey. After the flight, Leo is confronted with the ghost of his lost love. He finally lets go with the help of Cam and Merpin and collapses down and ready for the road to recovery.

A year later Cam and Amelia are happily married and living at Ramsey's estate with her family. She informs Cam that she is pregnant and they will be ready for the expansion of their family.
Best part of story, including ending: I love Cam Rohan because of seeing him grow as a cynical man to someone that is relaxing and showing love to Amelia is touching. I love how Amelia is self-declared spinster still finds love and be with the man that cares for her.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene is after the night of passion, Merpin discovers about the relationship between Amelia and Cam and gets angry at Cam. Merpin goes straight to attacking Cam while Amelia is in between them so Cam will not get hurt. I love it because it shows how much Merpin cares for the Hathaway family and the loving brotherly relationship between Merpin and Amelia.

Opinion about the main character: I like how Amelia started to open up again to the possibility of love and starts to take care of herself more through out the story. I also love Cam because he brings out the best of Amelia.
