This story is about two couples, one new and getting married. Henrietta and Claudio have been on just one date, then he went off to Italy for a year during which they emailed every day, now he is back. Ben and Trix dated in college, it ended badly but they have the same friends and see each other all the time, bickering regularly. Ben is Claudio's elder brother; Trix is Henrietta's best friend. They are all friends with Danny, who has a long term boyfriend, John, which everyone dislikes and who seems to enjoy causing trouble.

Claudio proposes to Henrietta the morning after their second date, and she says yes. The wedding plans go ahead, and Ben and Trix continue to bicker. Their friends decide to step in, deciding they are both to proud to admit their true feelings, and a plot is hatched. It is contrived that Ben overhears a conversation about Trix still being in love with him, and Trix hears the same about Ben being in love with her. Both begin to be nicer to each other.

The wedding day arrives, and all is going to plan until the vows, when Claudio says no instead of ‘I will' and leaves the church, saying that Henrietta knows why he has done it. She has no idea and is completely shocked and bemused. In the hotel bar that night it transpire that John, Danny's boyfriend had tricked Claudio into thinking Henrietta had been having an affair. Ben and Trix drink shots together and fall into bed, discovering in the morning the plot that their friends had hatched.

Henrietta sinks into a kind of depression, Claudio finally finds out what John has done, plucks up courage to face Henri and goes to her flat. Henri and Claudio end up in bed, and he tells her they can move to Italy as planned and have a small wedding there, she just goes along with it, telling herself this is what she wants.

Meanwhile Trix and Ben finally talk properly, and end up going on a proper date together, and realizing that while they drive each other crazy they also belong together.

As Claudio and Henrietta are getting on the plane, he realizes that he has never apologized to her, and never asked what she actually wants, so he gives her the choice of whether to come with him; Henri finally thinks about what she wants and stays.
Best part of story, including ending: I really liked Ben and Trix, but the rest of the characters seemed one dimensional; Henri was weak and a bit strange and it as never really clear why John was so nasty

Best scene in story: I love the scene with Ben and Trix talking about their future and realising they both want the same thing; no marriage, no living together, at least for now.

Opinion about the main character: Trix is feisty and independent and brave, Ben is clever and really cares about her.
