The Iditarod Race is the centerpiece for this murder mystery. Jessie Arnold is Alaska's premier female musher and she is noticing that all around her the other premier mushers are dying one by one through accidents, some of which seem to be hard to explain away. Jessie is having one of the best races of her career though and wants to push on, but is being extra cautious. She is also working to stay safe and keep her dogs out of peril. There is a lot of description on the mushing and the training it takes to be able to compete on this elite level.
