My Brilliant Career Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of My Brilliant Career

Sibylla is a wild and clever 16 year old whose family has been struck by poverty in late 1800s rural Australia. She dreams of writing a book and is sent by her parents to live with her Grandmother in lush country where she lives the good life, but retains her wild side. Here she meets and falls in love with Harold Beecham, a neighbour, and the book follows their ups and downs. Her family need her to work, however, so she is sent to a redneck farm to teach kids, and eventually back to her drought stricken home, where she finally makes decisions about her life.
