Nancy Cartwright's autobiographical book My Life As A 10 Year Old Boy is a fun and fact filled book. Before becoming the voice of Bart Simpson, Nelson Muntz, Ralph Wiggum and others, Ms. Cartwright grew up in Kettering, Ohio. She led a normal life and became interested in using her voice to make a living during high school. She moved to Los Angeles on the advice of her mentor Daws Butler, who is the voice of Elroy Jetson, Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss, Wally Gator, Yogi Bear and dozens of others making him a legend in the animated cartoon business.

Attending UCLA and receiving voice coaching from Mr. Butler she was working hard to hone her craft. She was able to read for a part on the Tracy Ullman shows animated short segments by Matt Groenig. That series of short segments was spun off by Fox becoming The Simpsons, and the rest is now the longest running animated feature in television history.
Ms. Cartwright gives an excellent account of the process for creating a animated show and the hard work needed to make it happen. She is doing other voices besides those on The Simpsons. In addition, she is an actress, a writer and a runs her own production company. She has formed her own company to expand her career and manage numerous new projects. She is married and has two children and still lives in Los Angeles.
