Lynne S Hightower has created a great female detective in Sonora Blair. She is so believable and woman can assimulate with her battles to maintain her work as a cop and as a single mother with two children. She and her partner investigate the murder of a teengage girl and a horse. Hightower explains the dirty workings of horse dressage and keeping a stable. As the investigation unfolds, it becomes questionable whether the intended victim was the girl or the horse. Is the horse plot correlated to the homicide or are they separate issues? There is a good mix of plots and subplots in this mystery to keep you interested right to the end of the book.
