Cece delivers a rare Nancy Drew book to an eccentric "Blue Nancy" collector who, interested in her research, shows her his entire collection and offers her the use of his vacation home in Palm Springs, where she is headed for a Nancy Drew convention with her two best friends. When the collector is murdered and CeCe is fingered, since she found the body, she begins her amateur sleuthing job.
In her race to uncover the truth, CeCe encounters an unscrupulous art dealer, missing art, fanatical Nancy Drew aficionados, and innocent people who seem guilty. With her witty sense of humor (not to mention her vintage fashion sense), CeCe manages to find the killer and piece together more Nancy Drew history for the memoirs than she ever thought possible.
