Pops tells the life story of Jazz great Louis Armstrong. Louis Armstrong was one of the most important musicians in American history. Pops tells the story of his entire life from cradle to grave. Satchmo grew up rough in New Orleans and learned to play the cornet in an orphanage. He started off playing small clubs in New Orleans before moving to Chicago. He made a series of ground breaking recordings in the 1920's and became one of the founders of jazz. He later recorded pop standards, acted in movies and became very well known in the early days of television. By the time of his death, Louis Armstrong was one of the most beloved entertainers in American history. His legend and legacy remain strong in 2014.

Best part of story, including ending: I love music and Louis was one of the best.

Best scene in story: I enjoyed learning about his first trip to England. It changed his life.

Opinion about the main character: He was a warm and lovable man but he also had an explosive temper and could hold a grudge forever.
