Ringworld is the craziest dream of engineering;          starring a freaking technologically advanced alien race, among others (including two hundred years main character human Louis Wu); and speed of light curious phenomena involved,

This excellent Nobel-winner is the first of the Ringworld trilogy.
A pupeteer - a tripple-legged double-headed creature, hires Lois Wu and the cat-like Kzin "Speaker-to-Animals" to explore a weird phenomenon: the Ringworld, and determine if it or it's builders poses a danger for the pupeteer race.
In this book there are still many unanswered questions, such as who built the Ringworld? Why is it inhabited by humans? etc. These questions going to be answered only in the sequels.

Ringworld, in what is now its 30th anniversary of publication is a true science fiction novel. Louis Wu and his companions set out to explore this ring around a sun with lots of adventures along the way. The most overwhelming thing in the whole story is the scale of the ringworld as the characters come to grasp with it.

Louis Wu and his motley crew - including two aliens and an odd human girl - have been recruited to explore a strange artifact - the Ringworld. (The Ringworld is an intermediate step between a planet and a Dyson sphere; it's a giant ring, 1000 km wide, that circles the planet at 1 AU.) An accident leaves them stranded; to get off the Ringworld, they must explore a tiny portion of the surface. They make some strange discoveries - including that the Ringworld is apparently populated by humans.

This is the story of a group of adventurers who explore a space station that's so larged that it's wrapped around a star.
