Juele is the youngest and newest student at the School of Light. She lives in Dreamland, a world where everything changes all the time, according to the will of the Sleepers. In the School of Light, students learn how to create illusions out of light, artwork. Juele wants desperately to fit in, but she never seems to do the right thing, and she gets made fun of. She attracts the interest of the Idealists, a mysterious group of older students at the school. Rutaro, one of the Idealists, enlists Juele's help in creating his biggest piece yet - he wants to cloak the castle in illusions that would make it more aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, others working on the project with him begin playing around with the government and risk destroying Rutaro's work.
