They travel to Las Vegas, where Adrian finds them. He stays with them, even though he doesn't like Rose's continuing interest in Dimitri. Robert, Victor's brother, tells them Lissa, or any other Spirit user, must stake Dimitri in order to restore him. Lissa wants to try it, but Rose refuses.
Still in Las Vegas, they are attacked by Dimitri and a group of Strigoi. They manage to run away and return to court, but once there, Rose is seperated from Lissa. Dimitri then kidnaps Lissa and Charistian as a bait for Rose. Rose leads a group of Guardians to his hiding place, deciding to kill him for good.
In Dimitri's hiding place, the guardians get involved in a fight with Dimitri and other Strigoi. Rose tries to reach Dimitri to kill him, but Lissa, with Christian's help, manages to get to him before Rose and stake him. She eventually manages to turn him back into a dhampir.
Back in court, Dimitri is taken into custody in order to find out if he is really dhampir again. Rose tries to reach him, but he pushes her away, saying he is unable to love, when he is, in fact, feeling guilty for what he's done to her as a Strigoi. Hurt, she turns to Adrian.
While eating breakfast the morning after, Rose and Dimitri meet each other. While eating, a few guardians come to capture Rose, saying she murdered the Queen. Dimitri tries to protect her, but is stopped by Rose herself. While waiting for her hearing, Rose recieves a note written by the Queen before her death, saying Lissa has a half-sister she needs in order to make her voice heard in the Council.
Best part of story, including ending:
I liked this story because it is interesting. It is filled with magical ideas. The character themselves are realistic and likable.
Best scene in story:
My favorite scene was the scene in which Lissa restores Dimitri. It is describes so beautifully and is very touching.
Opinion about the main character:
I like that Rose is persistent. I like that she cares enough about Lissa to decide to kill the man she loves for her.
