General Wedge Antilles is sent on a diplomatic mission to the world of Adumar, which inhabitants hold pilots in the highest esteem. There, he finds his mission imperiled almost from the start, and events lead to a world-wide war. This is a wonderful and hilarious Star Wars book, extremely readable.

The New Republic discovers a new planet--Adumar--a planet that, if gained, could get the New Republic a priceless supply of proton torpedoes. A diplomatic envoy must be sent--but the Adumarians will accept only pilots, not politicians. So, Wedge Antilles, along with his Red Flight (Tycho Celchu, Wes Janson, and Hobbie Klivian), set off to play diplomat and get Adumar for the New Republic. But, as they soon discover, Adumar is not what they have been told--in fact, the supposed "world government" is in charge of only one country. Wedge must bring Adumar together and convince them to join the New Republic--and if he fails, the Imperials just might get the planet for themselves.
