Finally the tension builds to bursting and Griff approaches Maggie knowing she feels this attraction too and soon they find themselves in bed together. The next day while out fishing a package arrived from the shooter. They had been found.
They quickly get in their vehicle and head for town to get phone service to call it in to their superior. Along the way a car chase takes place and bumps them off the road. A passing car sees it and stops and Maggie is taken to the hospital for head injuries. After being checked out and their superior officer arrives she is brought back to the cabin and Griff leaves with the other officer. The uneasiness he is feeling has them turning back to the cabin.
