    Lady Irisa Langley is a woman who must blackmail her uncaring father in order to find a man whom she can marry. Irisa, unbeknownest to the Ton, is actually a daughter who was born out of wedlock. Irisa's parents had a secret marriage ceremony and lied to the rest of the Ton, telling them that were married when actually her father had been already wed to someone else. Lady Irisa saved herself from the horrendous marriage to an old Duke by threatening to tell if her father forced her into the marriage. Four years later, Irisa finally found a man she loves, Lucas, Lord Ashton, also dubbed "The Saint" for his perfect behavior in society.

    Lucas has kept his life quiet and prim to kill the scandals his notorious mother brought to the family name. In Lady Irisa, he has found a perfect lady, and the two become engaged to be wed. By the time Irisa lets him know she was born illegiamate, he no longer cares, for his love for is strong.
   As the two marry, a blackmailer steps forward and threatens to ruin them with the scandal of Irisa's birth. Together, they try to figure out the mystery of who is threatening them. As they discover who the blackmailer is, Irisa is suddenly kidnapped and Lucas, insane with worry and fear, fights to find her and vanquish the blackmailer, so they can finally settle peacefully into matrimony.

Lady Irisa Langley is the illegitimate daughter of an Earl and his wife. But, this illegitimate birth is a secret from the Ton and those who pursue her as a wife. She has managed to blackmail her parents with this fact so that she can choose who she wants to be married to. Using this information she has turned down a number of suitors. When she is drawn to “the Saint” Lord Lucas Ashton she hopes she has finally found the man to share her life with and will not hold her past against her. When her father tells Lucas about her heritage (or so she thinks) and he still wants to marry her she is ecstatic. Unfortunately someone immediately tries to not only keep them apart but also tried to blackmail Irisa into not marrying Lucas. Lucas won't stand for it and decided the wedding is on, especially once Irisa tried to back out to save his reputation. Suddenly strange things seem to be happening to Irisa, she is locked out in a storm and she gets more threatening notes. But, Lucas is determined that they will face the blackmailer together and this means married.
