This is the fictional biography of Michelangelo Buonarroti, the creator of the Sistine Chapel ceiling, the dome of St. Peter's, and many of the most beautiful sculptures in art. It is mainly a story of his artistic genius and focuses on how he taught himself the basics of human anatomy (by examining cadavers) and how he created stunning works of art from lifeless marble. It is also the story of his loves and the pressure he was under from the Catholic church to create.
