The Earth passes through a cloud of 'comet debris' which blinds all but a handful of the population. The few who survive unscathed must struggle with their new situation, each other, and above all the triffids - mobile, lethal, genetically engineered plants.

Long before GM (genetically modified) crops hit the news, 'Triffids' were 'born'. Plants with the power to kill, Plants with the power to walk. When almost all of mankind are struck blind by a meteorite shower, the Triffids break bondage and take over. Classic sci-fi and perhaps must more relevant today than ever.
