Also as at the dinner is a poor medical practitioner, Blenkinsop, who is also sick. Ridgeon, with only enough medicine to treat one of the two patients, chooses the honorable Blenkinsop over the rascally Dudebat. His decision is complicated by the fact that he is in love with Jennifer.
Dudebat dies, but when Rideon confesses his love to Jennifer, he discovers that she has already remarried.
