The lives of film director Akira Kurosawa and actor Toshiro Mifune are inextricably intertwined. Each did much of his best work with the other. Kurosawa, known as "the Emperor" for his imperious ways on the set, was an artistic genius of the movie form, and Mifune one of its greatest actors. Galbraith traces their careers, and includes plenty of details on the people they worked with as well as a terrific filmography. There are also 44 b&w photos. A welcome piece of work.
