Dr. Kay Scarpetta is always fighting...fighting to uncover truth about victims of violent crimes, fighting to discover the identity of those who commit those crimes, and fighting to bring them to justice. In "The Last Precinct", Dr. Scarpetta continues her life-long, self-imposed quest to make right what is wrong, but this time she is forced not only to defend those who have been victimized but also herself. Against a system that has turned on her, long-time enemies, ghosts from her past, and her own carefully guarded emotions Dr. Scarpetta must find the proof that will send a killer to jail and prove herself innocent in the process.

This is another Kay Scarpetta book, leaving off from her last book, Black Notice. Dr. Scarpetta is on trial for Bray's murder... but she didn't do it, and it's obvious to everyone who did do it, but the evidence points to Scarpetta. Only someone on the inside of the government could plant and remove evidence. Who? What happens will change Kay's, Marino's, Lucy's, and other's lives forever. Nothing will ever be the same.

This is the lastest in Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series. This novel picks up after Dr. Scarpetta was attacked in the previous book Black Notice. It gives the reader the most intimate and personal look at Dr. Scarpetta of all her books. Before the end, she will accused, violated and had her entire life turned upside down. It is by far my favorite in the series!

Scarpetta is back in this sequal to Black Notice. Chandonne is in police custody. A special prosecuter from NY is brought in to build a case against him based on a previous murder in NY thought to be his work. Kay finds herself in the middle of the investigation, with evidence being submitted against her for the murder of Diane Bray. With the discovery of new bodies, and information she has found in a file Benton created, Scarpetta finds that she is dealing with something more cynical and evil than she had imagined.
This book was a fast and furious read. It ties up alot of unanswered questions from previous books. EXCELLENT!!
