Jessica grows up with two parents and two older siblings next door to a beautiful mansion once owned by her parents. When she meets the man living next door, she learns her family secrets. He asks her to marry his son, so that she can inherit his fortune and the Green Flash at Sunset, an exceptional opal said to bring bad luck. Jessica marries Joss and tries to live a marriage in name only while learning Ben's business of opal mining in Austrailia.
