information cnncerning Nazi secrets and there are agents from around the world who are doing
everything to get it. There are also those who are trying desperately to see that no one does get
it! In “The Salzburg Connection,” Helen MacInnes is in top form with her ingredients for
success: exotic, historical locales, exciting and suspenseful plots, and excellent characterizations,
mixed in with more than a murder or two! The man with the inside track (read that, “American
protagonist”) is Bill Mathison, a New York lawyer. Before he knows it, he is faced with what
looks like certain death, on more than one occasion (these people don't kid around!), but his skill,
intelligence, and wit keep him afloat, despite having to worry about two beautiful women, one of
whom is out to betray him! An exciting read. MacInnes certainly carved out a sterling
reputation!
