David Nathan's "The Soulful Divas" contains mini-biographies of the following legendary women: Dionne Warwick, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Esther Phillips, Doris Troy, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Millie Jackson, Natalie Cole, Phyllis Hyman,Roberta Flack, and Anita Baker. Each of the woman profiled has a singular chapter devoted to her life with much insight into their respective successes and failures. Many of the facts provided are commonly known but the author does yield some rare gems about each of the highly respected songstresses.
