Anthony, Marquess of Staunton and heir to a dukedom, decides he is going to enrage his domineering and abusive father. Charity agrees because she loves her brothers and sisters and this is a chance to provide them with a comfortable life. But her love and her character soon cause Anthony to fall in love and realize that Charity is not an unsuitable wife.
