The vampire Armand was previously introduced in Anne Rice's other Vampire Chronicles, and now his story is told here in full. From his childhood in Mongolian-ruled Russia, to ancient Constantinople where he is sold into slavery. Armand then ends up in Venice, becoming an apprentice to a mysterious painter named Marius, who then bestows upon him the Dark Gift of vampirism. Here is Armand's story, from the very earliest beginnings, through his appearances in other Rice novels, and up to present day, as he still continues to struggle with his identity and immortality.
