Success changes some people making them unrecognizable to those who love them. In this case, Jeremy becomes consumed by the prospect of a new fan base. Under the bright lights Claudia watches her husband become more and more shallow. As Claudia writes in search of having her film scripts picked up in Hollywood she loses the shared connection with Jeremy. Jeremy remains an indie musician half way commuted to his art, and half stepping his way through marriage.

Jeremy's band gets noticed by agent and success seems imminent. His pompous attitude grows as groupies take notice. The more successful the band becomes, the more Jeremy falls into the hype of being a star.

Claudia takes a teaching job at an elite preppy high school. She hates the idea of a 9-5 but is into saving her marital home.

Stuff hits the fan when Jeremy's ex-girlfriend shows up out of the blue. Jeremy agrees to meet her without mentioning it to Claudia. While Jeremy gives Claudia the blues over everything, he can't seem to jump through enough hoops in efforts to please his ex. He doesn't seem to mind trying. When Jeremy leaves Claudia to travel the globe with his ex, Claudia is devastated.

The love triangle takes readers on a ride as Jeremy breaks the rules of marriage in efforts to hang with the rich and famous. His ex-girlfriend opens the doors to freedoms that Jeremy seems to love.

Claudia tries to heal from the betrayal while looking for ways to salvage the home she and Jeremy fell in love with. Jeremy resurfaces from with a goofy grin and excuses that still ring of lies.

Claudia too, has another side. Still working to get her script into the right hands she is sidetracked by another problem. Claudia is confronted and blackmailed by teen age student and resident snob Penelope. She believes her father's generous gifts to the school give her the right to bully everyone, including teachers.

Integrity in question, Claudia adds new lies on top of old ones to secure her film project. Penelope and Claudia bump heads and the scene gets ugly.

Will Jeremy stop grinning and scheming and become the husband Claudia needs? Can Claudia regain her integrity as a professional? Will the couple save their marriage and their home?

This Is Where We Lives, examines some of the common problems that occur when couples don't communicate and advocate for love.
Best part of story, including ending: I hate that Claudia decides to trade money for integrity.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was when Claudia loses it in front of her class. It showed she was human.

Opinion about the main character: Jeremy was a beast, very self absorbed. Even though he eventually apologizes for being a jackass it takes to long.
