She is working to save money for college and Penn state so she can leave for school when summer is over. He won't leave after eating a small portion of his steak. Instead he continues to talk to melody about modeling and gives her his business card with numbers on the back for top modeling agencies.

She doesn't know if he's wacko or not. He seems confident that she should call the agencies and give his name first thing the next day. She does and gets an interview for the very next day. Melody's parents aren't thrilled with the prospect of her modeling but her mom loans Melody her best pair of shoes. She doesn't have a portfolio and instead brings family pictures from the theme part she hung out at the previous summer.

The agency director falls out when she sees Melody and she is hired on the spot even though she has more interviews from the business card. She gets brought up to speed fast even though she is quite green in comparison to the seasoned girls. Snippy and a conceited are how most act and that just isn't Melody's style.

Her ex boyfriend has come home from college for vacation and wants to see other people. Eric has no idea Melody is about to blow up. She gets a full scholarship to Penn State but is earning so much money as a model she isn't sure what she's going to do.

Her travel schedule is crazy twenty nine flights in thirty days. She's rushed at the airport by young girl syked to meet a model. She has read everything about Melody who is renamed Mac by the industry. The girl even has the latest copy of Sports Illustrated. This is her first time seeing the magazine. It's only been two months since she started and she is the hottest model for the year.

When she and fellow model Jade are given a complimentary spa massage from a woman at a party the night before Melody doesn't know that includes an orgy. Jade is well seasoned and a former child model, she doesn't blink. While the massage feels heavenly Melody freaks out when the hands on her body go lower and lower. She leaves in a huff. Jade doesn't think its a big deal at all.

She learns quickly that modeling is a cut-throat business. Other models are jealous, people throw out favors with the expectation of outrageous things in return. Melody is still a virgin and not interested the sex, drugs, and debauchery offered at almost every turn.

She's making crazy amounts of money and decides to put school off for a year. Melody's parents are not thrilled with her decision, but support her. Her mother has an associate's degree, and dad is a firefighter joining the force right of high school. Melody's check for her last job was thirteen thousand. She's young fresh out high school and they too know about women starving themselves for work and the traps that befall so many. Her mom wants her to keep school close on her radar. They know their daughter and trust her.

Jade takes Melody become best buds who work together on a lot of shoots. Jade is drugging and sexing as if it is written into her contract. She thinks Melody needs to loosen up. Thankfully, Melody knows who she is.

The fame and fortune are not enough for Jade. She sabotages her life and the friendship she has with Melody. She goes for Duncan a guy Melody is getting to know and cares for by sleeping with him. She thought Melody was after her boyfriend Roman. Jade didn't know that Melody was a virgin and wasn't about to give her goodies away to just anyone.

Jade does a lot of drugs and gets behind the wheel of a car. When she crashes she breaks nineteen bones. Her parents fly in from different parts of the world and Melody learns that Jade will be taking a long break from modeling.

The frenzy of the last few months has been a frenzied roller-coaster ride of adventure. She has made more money than she ever dreamed possible, without compromising her morals. Delicious Modeling Agency and one diner have changed her life in ways she couldn't have imagined. On top of all of this Penn State awaits.
Best part of story, including ending: I liked that Melody stayed true to herself despite the large amount of perks available to her as a sought after model.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was between Melody and Duncan. Modeling can be cut-throat and she needed a friend who respected her boundaries.

Opinion about the main character: I liked Melody's value system, she could have slipped hard and fallen on the same path as Jade, but she did not.
