Touch Not the Cat Book Review Summary

Detailed Plot Synopsis of Touch Not the Cat

Bryony's father has died in a mysterious car crash and the mystery deepens with his dying words which refer to a "cat" in connection with the moated house which is their home and now taken over by her twin cousins.

All her life, Bryony has "spoken" to a secret "friend" who she now considers her "lover", although she doesn't know who he actually is. There is a history of this special "talking" in the family and this is skillfully woven into the story as Bryony struggles with doubt and confusion about her own and her lover's identity, all the while trying to find the truth about her father's death.
