When a young woman discovers that her fiance has cheated on her, she needs to suddenly figure out who she is and what she really wants in life. Guiliana Layne is a traffic reporter for a morning news program at New York News Now. She lives with her fiance, JR, and their French bulldog, Zelda, in New York City.

In the middle of the night, JR shows up at the apartment in handcuffs with a police officer. Guiliana finds out that JR was arrested for smoking weed in public and assaulted one of the cops. JR and the police officer retrieve JR's identification and then head to the police station.
Guiliana stays at the apartment because she has to arrive at work early in the morning. While she sits in the living room, she hears JR's cellphone vibrate. When she checks JR's cellphone, she sees that his assistant, Courtney, left a text message. Based on the text message, Guiliana realizes that JR and Courtney are having an affair.
Guiliana is heartbroken by JR's infidelity. She confides in her best friend Gemma and Gemma's boyfriend, Luke. She tries to drown her sorrows by getting drunk and singing karaoke at a restaurant. Guiliana took off her shirt during the karaoke performance and fell off the stage. The spectacle was caught on camera and the footage was posted on a popular gossip website called Banter.
Guiliana is chastised by Maryann, the news director at her job, for the negative publicity. Guiliana fears that she will lose her job and promises not to cause any more problems for the station. She also tells Maryann that she will get the video footage taken off the Banter website.
Guiliana goes to Banter's office and speaks to Ben Abrams - the person who wrote the story about her and posted the video. Guiliana tells Ben that he has to take down the video if she beats him in a ping pong game. Guiliana wins the game and Jake Spears, editor-in-chief of Banter, agrees to remove the video from the website.
She moves out of the apartment she shared with JR and takes Zelda with her. A police officer notifies Guiliana that JR pressed charges against her for dognapping. Guiliana attacks the police officer because she refuses to give Zelda to him.
A New York newspaper reports that Guiliana was charged with dognapping and resisting arrest. Ben also writes about Guiliana's arrest on the Banter website. Guiliana is suspended from her job for two weeks. She decides to give up custody of Zelda so that JR will drop the civil lawsuit he filed against her.
Ben tells Guiliana that she can write an article on Banter's website describing the reasons for her downward spiral. Guiliana receives a lot of support from fans and viewers of her show after they read the article. Due to Guiliana's popularity, she starts writing a dating column for a magazine named Level.
Guiliana unexpectedly develops a friendship with Ben. She shares some of her dating stories with him and he becomes a confidante.
Gemma isn't happy in her relationship with Luke. Gemma meets Jake Spears while hanging out with Guiliana. Even though Jake is married, he starts flirting and exchanging sexy text messages with Gemma. Guiliana doesn't approve of Gemma's behavior. Luke breaks up with Gemma when he realizes their relationship has run its course.
Jake is interested in Guiliana as well. He sends her messages filled with sexual innuendos. Guiliana thinks Jake is a scumbag and doesn't want to pursue anything with him.
Guiliana becomes romantically interested in Ben. One day they meet for drinks at a bar and kiss each other. Guiliana anxiously waits to hear from Ben, but she finds out that he's dating a news anchor named Sloane Riley. Guiliana is jealous and her feelings are hurt.
Guiliana keeps dating other men in the hopes that it will help her get over Ben. Eventually, Guiliana and Ben start talking again and their friendship remains intact. Ben implies that there are trust issues between him and Sloane because she lies a lot.
A website called The Wrap releases pictures of Jake and Sloane partially naked. When Guiliana and Ben see the pictures, they realize that Jake and Sloane have been sleeping together. Ben ends his relationship Sloane and quits his job at Banter.
Guiliana and Ben are both ready to explore their feelings for each other and go out on a date. During their date, Ben lets Guiliana know that he wants to be with her. Guiliana feels the same way and is excited to see where her relationship with Ben is headed.
Best part of story, including ending:
Guiliana is on t.v. and has a modicum of celebrity within New York City, but she's still a regular girl who wants to be loved. She has grown since her last relationship and wants to take time to really get to know Ben before they dive head-first into a serious relationship.
Best scene in story:
When Guiliana found out her fiance was cheating on her, she was strong enough to leave him and not look back. She didn't know what the future held, but she had enough self-esteem to realize that she deserved better.
Opinion about the main character:
Guiliana is resilient even though she came across as a bit shallow and juvenile at times. She was deeply hurt by her fiance, but she was still determined to find true happiness in every aspect of her life.
