It is about a 200 year old werewolf king who is in search of his queen, fighting vampires, hoping to prevent an evil event at the end of the Blood Moons. The story centers around a werewolf king named Seth Lupil, who has been awakened from a deep sleep after over 200 years, to search for his true love. This is so he can re-populate his lineage, and also stave off the evil vampires from getting their way by the end of the four blood moons. Seth meets and falls for Julia Stevens a very independent business exec for an accounting firm. She does not trust men, because she has seen her mother beaten by her father, and has avoided any man who is controlling. She encounters Seth, who she thinks is controlling, but comes to discover that this is not the case. Brad is the one searching on behalf of the vampires, while Seth searches himself. Seth meets Julia, and falls madly for her, and SLOWLY she for him. During this time, there is a serial killer on the loose, and it turns out to be Brad Vaughn, a co-worker of Julia's, who is a rogue gypsy under the control/influence of vampires. He allies himself with another gypsy who is now a witch, in an attempt to win Julia over, but his witch really wants Brad for herself. Brad murders two women, and tries to murder a third named Ophelia, but he decides to take her captive for the vampire king. Seth meets Madame Viola, a gypsy who tells him that he needs a Queen, and believes it to be Julia, but is not 100% certain, however she is willing to help Seth avenge the murder of his clan, and help him bring his family name back. Brad ultimately seduces her best friend Melanie, who he reveals to her as be Brad's third cousin. Upon hearing this, and seeing how Julia has “abandoned” her for Seth, agrees to help Brad in his quest with the vampires.

In the meantime, both the werewolves and vampires want to be the one to achieve their goal: obtain a bride by the final blood moon. Seth needs his Queen to help defeat the evil of the vampires, while the vampires search for one for their leader. Brad goes so far as to seduce Julia with a powerful potion and sleeps with her as a result. Julia realizes this has happened, and lets Brad know she wants NOTHING to do with him, and in the process, she loses her best friend Melanie. Seth decides to reveal to Julia who he is and his purpose in this world, as ruler of the werewolves. At first she is upset, but her love for Seth, overcomes any anger and she agrees to be his bride and help him in his quest. She then meets Madame Viola, makes new friends with other gypsies including Ophelia, who is also predicted to help Seth and the werewolves in their battle against the vampires. As Seth and Julia prepare not only to marry, but fight this battle. In the end of the first book, the vampire leader has now awakened and all the vampires, including Brad and Melanie as well as the witch

I thought it was very interesting how the author ties in an actual event taking place right now, to a romance story. I also like vampire stories.
