Suddenly, Jake Reynolds has returned, and is determined to win Dee back. Dee, while secretly overjoyed, decides not to make it easy for Jake, though. Their passion is rekindled over time until it erupts into wild sex, and experimentation in domination/submission.
Jake's other motive for returning to town concerns the cattle rustling, a theme which strings together the four books in this series, of which Wildfire is the first. Wildfire sets up the premise of the second book, Wildcat, with the introduction of a possible relationship between Dee's friend Catie and Sheriff Jarrod Savage.
