Wishin' On A Star Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Wishin' On A Star

Shelby Russau is quietly living her life in St. Petersburg, Florida when a darkly handsome man surfaces in her hometown seeking her help. Raphael Blaze has come from Grenada seeking the whereabouts of Shelby's brother, Cleophus. Raphael tells Shelby that her brother fathered a child with his sister Marlene when he was serving in the military and stationed in Grenada. Shocked to the core, Shelby tells Raphael that Cleophus died 16 years ago. Raphael tells Shelby that his nephew, also named Cleophus, needs a blood transfusion from an AB blood type. Shelby openly acknowledges that both she and her brother carry the AB blood type. Orphaned as a child and left totally without family after her brother's death, Shelby feels the tug of familial obligation when she ponders her nephew's condition. After Raphael shows Shelby a picture of her nephew which bears an uncanny resemblance to her brother, Shelby decides to make the trip to Grenada. When Shelby arrives in Grenada she discovers that Raphael is heir to the mighty Blaize empire and that he has lived a hermit-like existence for some time. As Shelby meets her nephew and becomes acquainted with island life on Grenada she finds herself falling in love with Raphael, who is a romantic and tender man beneath his gruff exterior. But as the relationship deepens Shelby fears that their different worlds will keep them apart.
