Maria: Maria is a whore from Brazil who moves to Switzerland and has a lot of sex. Sex means nothing to her, although she really enjoys masturbating. She is trying to find the meaning of love.
Ralf: Ralf is a painter who Maria falls in love with.
Terence: Terence is a guy who likes to whip whores. Maria really gets off on a good whipping.
There are no other major characters. Even including Terence was a stretch, because he isn't a major character. This is a major weakness of the story, that it didn't really have many major characters. It's hard to write a good, complex story with only two major characters.
